Stay Safe & Clean Your Make-Up With Alcohol

In these curious coronavirus times, we’re all being super safe when it comes to keeping germs at bay. Ethanol supplier sales have gone through the roof with hand sanitisers and antibacterial wipes, and we’re all washing our hands and being very careful about touching our faces—but are we thinking enough about what we put on our faces?

Because while we might be conscious of cleaning our faces and taking our make-up off before bed every night, we tend not to spare a thought for actually putting our make-up on. And just like food and drink, make-up products have an expiry date.

Ingredients degrade over time and we need to clean our make-up kits regularly to keep them safe, germ-free, and working well. So how do you do it?

It’s easier than you think. To keep your lipstick looking luscious, simply scrape off the top layer if you haven’t used it for a while—or put it in the freezer to kill any bacteria.

For foundations, powders, bronzers and blushers, just give them a little spritz with rubbing alcohol and leave it to dry out completely before application.

And when it comes to your make-up packaging, alcohol does the job, too. Just get an alcohol cleansing wipe, or apply a little rubbing alcohol on to a cloth and give it a wipe over.

But be careful with mascaras and other eye make-up—your eyes are very sensitive, so it’s best just to replace your mascara regularly.
